Apple Hiring for iPhone 5 Launch, A5 Overheating?
0We are getting awfully close to that time of year when Apple will launch a brand new iPhone. The company has been so successful with its smartphone and tablet products that it will surely sell a ton of iPhone 5 units just by the momentum it has in this industry. As JP Morgan reports, Apple may have already sold close to 20M iPhone units in the quarter ending in June.
Plus we expect the momentum to continue, driven by the looming iPhone 4-plus refresh… Also, better than expected component pricing and improved yields stand to benefit iPhone gross margin,
Analyst Mark Moskowitz explained. This is the most optimistic forecast we have seen. Other experts put Apple’s iPhone sales numbers for this quarter around 17M. With the next generation iPhone coming soon, Apple is not slowing down anytime soon. How soon? A job listing discovered on Reed.co.uk sheds some light on that.
Apple will not be shipping new phones in August. That rumor has been debunked a couple of times already. There is no reason it can’t announce the new phone some time in August though (ship it in September). Some are arguing that iPhone 5 has been delayed due to A5 chips overheating. If this rumor is true, the upcoming iPhone will only be a minor upgrade over the current one. We have no way to confirm this at this point though.
