iPhone Alarms Broken Till Jan 3rd?
0Many people rely on their iPhone alarms to wake up on time everyday. In case you didn’t notice your iPhone’s alarm sound this past couple of days, there is a good reason for that. Apparently, an iOS bug is keeping iPhone alarms from going off. Apple customers were already upset about this issue the very first day it happened. As reported by Wired.com, Apple is aware of this issue but won’t be able to fix it before January 3rd (today):
We’re aware of an issue related to non repeating alarms set for January 1 or 2. Customers can set recurring alarms for those dates and all alarms will work properly beginning January 3.
As much as Apple has paid attention to details when it comes to designing the iPhone and developing iOS, it seems the company forgot to actually test iPhone’s alarm functionality. The end of daylight saving time did cause iPhone alarms to malfunction as well. This is a very embarrassing start for Apple to a year that holds so much promise for the company. We find it curious that Apple engineers can come up with shiny, complex gadget ideas but can not get iPhone’s alarm to work without a hitch.
At this point, it is not clear whether iPhone alarms are working today. The unit we set up for our test did not function as expected. Some customers are already complaining about this issue persisting on Twitter and other social media sites.
Those of you who are relying on your iPhone to get up on time may want to invest in an alarm clock dock just to be on the safe side. Smartphones can be great alarm clocks for travel but are probably a bit risky to count on if you have to absolutely get up at a certain time for an important day. At the very least, having a backup clock won’t hurt.
What’s your take? Did your alarm go off today?
