iPhone 4: The Most Reliable Phone?
0iPhone 4 is one interesting gadget. Not because of all the good features that it offers but due to all the trials and tribulations Apple has had to face to bring the phone to the market and satisfy its customers. Antenna-gate was a big PR disaster for Apple. The company handled it the best way it could by giving away free cases to iPhone 4 owners for a limited time. Consumer Reports has not been too kind to iPhone 4 either. iPhone 4 may not be the perfect smart-phone, but it is still one of the most reliable phones around. A study by SquareTrade confirms just that. With only 2.1% of iPhone 4 owners experiencing a non-accident related malfunction within their first 12 months on their phone, iPhone 4 is one reliable device.
Motorola and HTC are not too far behind iPhone. The study does show that some of the iPhone 4 problems were blown out of proportions. There are some bad news for Apple fans in this report. The device is deemed to be highly susceptible to accidents. It has the highest accident rate among the tested phones. Thinking about dropping your iPhone to see what happens? You may want to pick up a decent case before even trying that.
SquareTrade concludes that while Apple iPhone 4 is the most reliable phone it has tested, owners do not want to take any chances with it:
The iPhone 4 is the most reliable phone in the study, but also has the highest risk of accidental damage. Blackberrys had the least risk of accidental damage, and may be the best choice for the clumsiest consumers, but had a relatively high malfunction rate.
iPhone 4 scores very high on Consumer Reports as well. But no matter how reliable the phone is, Consumer Reports won’t be recommending it. Not yet anyway.
