Want To Install Android on iPhone 3G?
0Everybody keeps hearing about how great the Android platform is. It is tough to make a judgment on the platform without actually trying it. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could install this operating system on your iPhone? This has been done in the past. At the time, the process was just too complicated. The folks at Redmond Pie have found a way to install Android on older iPhone units without you even needing a computer. Unfortunately, iPhone 4 is not supported at this point.
In order to get started with the process, you are going to need an iPhone 2G or 3G. You will have to jailbreak your phone. The next steps are straightforward:
- install bootlace on your iPhone
- bring Openiboot software on board
- reboot your iPhone
- play with Android Froyo (2.2.1) on your iPhone
If you do not have the stomach to jailbreak your phone, this solution is not for you. Still, it’s nice to know there is a way to bring Android to older iPhones (another good reason to hold on to them). It’d be nice to have a way to run Froyo on iPad.
Did you pull it off? Has playing with Android changed your mind about iOS and its merits?
