Apple’s September 7th Event: Apple TV + Extras
0It would be wishful thinking to expect Apple to release Verizon iPhone in a matter of couple of weeks. But the rumors of a new Apple TV with super cheap plans have been going around for some time now. Kevin Rose of Digg did claim that Apple intends to introduce a $99 iTV “very soon.” What good is a new Apple TV without decent content to go with it? According to Bloomberg, Apple is in advanced talks with News Corp to let people rent TV shows for only $0.99 per episode.
Viewers would be able to rent programs from News Corp.s Fox for 48 hours, said the people, who declined to be identified because the discussions arent public. CBS Corp., NBC Universal and Walt Disney Co. — where Apple Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs is a board member and the largest shareholder — also are in talks about joining the effort
That is going to put a huge amount of pressure on the cable industry to up its game. While it’s not clear how much Apple will go into its content partnerships on September 7th, the timing seems to be right for iTV. Of course, iTV won’t be the only product to be unveiled on that day.
Apple iPod Touch fans have been dying for Apple to bring an updated version of the device to the market. We have been talking about iPod Touch Video for quite some time. According to multiple sources, the new iPod Touch will include a front-facing FaceTime camera.
Apple fans will have to wait for the smaller version of iPad for now. That is most likely to debut in 2011.
