T-Mobile iPhone Now a Reality?
3When it comes to rumors, the iPhone nation never rests. We have all been waiting for Apple to bring more carriers on board. Apple will have no choice but to do that if it wants to expand iPhone’s market-share. Just a few days ago, there were talks about how Apple may be close to bringing Apple iPhone to Verizon network. The latest rumor suggests that Apple may pass up the opportunity with Verizon to work with T-Mobile instead. According to “sources close to the matter,” T-Mobile iPhone could make its debut as early as this fall. Can’t these so-called “s0urces” make up their mind?
The best plan for Apple will be to make iPhone available through as many carriers as possible. That is the only way for Apple to compete for that #1 position over the long run. The trouble is, the current iPhone is not compatible with Verizon or T-Mobile networks. Apple will have to make changes to its handset to pull it off. That would not be an issue for Apple. But fall of this year seems too early for such a move.
Apple offering iPhone through T-Mobile should give iPhone fans the chance to figure out whether AT&T is to blame for everything that has gone wrong with iPhone. Regardless of whether this rumor is based on facts, people are now talking about the next potential iPhone carrier instead of iPhone 4’s reception issues. The conversation has changed a bit for now.
This is another one of those rumors that needs to be taken with a grain of salt. With all the problems that Apple has experienced this year, a T-Mobile iPhone seems highly unlikely to debut this year. Apple has surprised us in the past, but we have heard these rumors before.
T-Mobile IS compatible with today's iPhone. Sprint and Verizon use the obsolete CDMA standard, which is not.
Technically yes. Still a small modification is required from what we have heard. Agree with you on Verizon and Sprint.
I currently use an Iphone on tmobile. Only modification necessary was to jailbreak and unlock it which took all of 30 seconds.
