New Apple TV: Next Killer Apple Device?
0Apple and Google are already fighting for supremacy in the smart-phone business. Android has been more challenging in such a short time than many experts predicted. Google is not stopping with smart-phones. It’s expected to take Android to as many devices as possible. With Google TV in the works, it’s a matter of time before we hear from Apple about the next generation Apple TV. Apple TV may be a hobby for Apple now, but it needs to be improved in many areas to stand against the next of competitors in this market.
According to a new rumor, Apple TV could run iTunes apps as it will take advantage of iPhone OS 4. It is expected to stream 1080p videos over the Internet and take advantage of cloud storage. Considering how aggressive Apple has been with its iPad pricing strategy, the rumored $99 price tag for next gen Apple TV is not too surprising.
The Internet has become of a big part of a lot of people’s lives. But Internet-based devices have yet to make their way to our living rooms. With Google TV and the new Apple TV, that could all change. It’s not clear at this point whether the device will run the regular iPhone apps (or a specific class of them). Apple did promise a powerful tablet and delivered it in iPad. Can it do the same with Apple TV?
Internet TV is the way to go. There is plenty of content out there on the Internet. One can literally use YouTube for entertainment purposes 24/7. Let’s not forget that many companies are starting to take advantage of devices such as Roku to bring their content to people’s living room. Apple TV could be that and more. That is if Apple plays its cards right.
