10 Best iPhone Pregnancy Apps for Mothers
32I have never been a father but as someone who has watched my friends become fathers, I know what they and their spouses go through to bring their children to this world. Let’s be honest. What dads do is nothing compared to what moms have to go through during their pregnancy period. They got to watch what they eat and what they do to bring the healthiest kids to this world. If you are pregnant or just thinking about it, there are iPhone apps that can help you get through the process. It’s true that these apps don’t make the pain ago away, but they do let you keep track of things and become more knowledgeable.
With that in mind, here are 10 cool iPhone applications for pregnant women:
Woman Calendar: it may be more complicated than any calendar I have seen, but I have been told it’s a very useful tool for women who want to get pregnant or avoid it.
Pregnancy ++: developed for expecting parents, this tool shows you daily info on your pregnancy and has HD belly and fetal pictures. It can handle your baby shopping list too.
WomanLog Calendar: a menstrual and fertility calendar for women. It provides you with ovulation and fertility forecast. The notifications are a plus.
Pregnancy Pregnant: similar to iPregnancy. I have to give the nod to that app, but some prefer this one. Great gift for the mommy in your life.
Foods to Avoid When Pregnant: another very useful app for moms to be. If you are going to be a mom soon, you know your kid’s going to need the proper nutrition. Make sure you eat the right thing with this app.
Labor and Contraction Timer: you can take advantage of this tool to time labor contractions. You can also record the intensity of each contraction. The charts are useful too.
Pregnancy Tracker: tells you everything you need to know about your baby. Estimated size, progress, …. You just name it.
Pregnancy Progress: a nice tool to keep track of your pregnancy period and record memories along the way. It allows you to monitor your health and share your progress with others easily.
Fertility Friend Mobile: a period tracker, menstrual calendar, and a fertility chart interpretation tool all fit into one. Available for free at the time of this writing.
myPill: this is for those of you who do not want to get pregnant anytime soon. It keeps track of your birth control pills. It reminds you when to take your pill and allows you track down events too.
There you have it. If you are a mom to be and want to use your phone to manage your situation better, the above pregnancy apps come in handy.

Quite a handful of useful iPhone apps you got on your list Mr! I can’t believe your male and you have taken the time to review and try out such feminine apps though so KUDOS for doing so. I love the ovulation callendar the most and I on my way to getting that in my phone somehow. Thanks for this mommy post!
Here’s a shameless plug for a new pregnancy tracking app called BabyBump. It includes a kick counter, contraction tracker, weight graphs/charts with BMI-based weight gain prediction, a calendar, full-text journal entry, weekly photo slideshow tracking, and weekly baby and body embryo photos. It includes the features of several of the apps mentioned above all in one package. We hope you like it. We actively maintain it and welcome feedback and feature suggestions.
Does Baby Bump store the journal entries on their web server based on an account with a username & password?
For example if my iPhone needs to be restored from scratch would I still lose the information?
Casey. Thanks for the plug. We need to update this piece as there are plenty of more apps that moms can use.
I’ve been using Cohaus “cycles”, which also has nice fertility predictions, although I bought it originally for period tracking.
and if you don’t want to become pregnant, ‘the pill’ application will help you to manage and remember to take your birth control pill 🙂 http://www.thepill-iphone.com

hmmm… let me add one to the mix. there's a new iphone app that just came out a couple of weeks ago. any pregnant mother should definitely get it. it's got everything that you need, from tracking your symptoms to how your body/baby's doing to uploading photos of your baby bump week by week and of course, sending out those baby birth announcement. it's really neat. my pregnant friend discovered this app last week and is loving it.
download it here >> http://bit.ly/aGpFSD
Try "Your pregnancy week by week".. it's cool http://itunes.apple.com/ar/app/your-pregnancy-wee…
Impressive looking app! And tons of notes about medical information, nutrition facts, psychology help, tips & tricks, as well as a list of myths!
I love it!!
"Pregnant Dad" just came with a new version 2.0, which added even more fun. a gallery for ultra sound scans, zodiac information, due date calculation, a chinese gender prediction calendar with high probability,
This will be our fellow app for our growing child with intersting facts per week.
We enjoyed the calendar with vip's birthdays for every possible due date. Our baby might have the same birthday as George Clooney 😉
I will surely take note of this the next I get preggy! One useful free app for mom (pregnant or not) is Intuition aka "mom's personal assistant" (www.iconapps.com). Productivity app that helps mom get organized and simplify schedules, tasks, and even grocery listing. Really a huge help for me.
You might find of interest my new app for iPad: "Pregnancy Wheel HD" – it is like the real pregnancy wheels doctors use to quickly estimate due date except if is in your iPad! You turn the wheel with your finger just like a real one…

There are so many great apps mentioned here and so many out there for parents. We just created one that pushes all the practical advice you get from your girlfriends directly to your calendar after you enter your due date. Once a week you get a reminder about something you need to do that week (book recommendations, budget lists, registry checklists, pediatrician questionnaire, car seat installation locations, etc.).

We also list our favorite products and books (for free) on the site – we did a lot of research to discover all these tidbits to save parents-to-be hours and hours of research time.
Great list! I have some pregnancy apps for expectant moms to share as well – http://www.nomadchique.com/2011/03/top-iphone-app…
Thank you Karen 🙂
You have time for all these pregnancy apps while waiting for baby arrival. But when your baby is burn you appear to be short of time (at least I did) and you should better download Stork.cc, an app that announces baby birth, like Stork.cc: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/stork-cc/id4068298… before head. With the App you can email as many birth announcements as you want right from hospital!
check out my baby's beat, a new app for iPhone. Enables to listen to the fetus's heartbeat.! http://www.mybabysbeat.com
Here’s a great one for all the expecting mothers in NYC. Search updated restaurant health inspections to ensure mom and baby are eating at only the cleanest places. You can even stalk your fav places and receive notifications when it gets a new inspection. http://www.knowbeforeyoueat.com and available in the app store
Expecting Nutrition is great for keeping track of your nutrition makes it really easy to make good food choices for me and my lil one.

I've purchased Pregnancy Gestogram (by facemama.com). It has different versions for iPad and iPhone. It's the best pregnancy wheel I could find. Now I know my baby's weight/height, head size, my weight increase, and a lot of information for every pregnancy week. And all that in 7 different languages available.
My wife wanted me to write her an app which monitors our babys sleep patterns while she’s pregnant so that we have half an idea of how little sleep we’re likely to get when we have her !
After using it for a few days it turns out that she sleeps during the day a lot, and is awake mostly throughout the night..
If anyone else is interested in working out their fetal sleep patterns you can download it here:

This is a nice one.
Total focus on mom.
