iOS 3.0 Causing Battery Issues
1When Apple finally released iPhone 3.0 OS a while ago, a whole lot of people jumped at a chance to upgrade their software as fast as possible. There is no question that iPhone 3.0 OS is very superior to its predecessor. At the same time, you can always expect new things to crash on you. It’s doesn’t just happen with hardware but software as well. That seems to be the case with the latest iPhone issue that has surfaced over the Internet. Many iPhone owners are now complaining about their device’s battery life after upgrading to iPhone 3.0. If the problem was only limited to iPhone 3GS, you could blame the hardware, but it’s definitely seems to be a software issue as many iPhone 3G owners are complaining about battery life as well.
Apple does have a guideline for those who want to get more battery life out of their device. But a lot of folks who have followed those guidelines are still struggling to get a whole lot of life out of their iPhone batteries. The fact that iPhone 3GS pretty much uses the same battery technology as iPhone 3G should indicate that the problem is caused by the new software. Murmurs about this issue started to emerge a few days ago, but you could always dismiss those as isolated cases. But now more people are having the very same headache, and it’s not that easy to ignore.
If your iPhone has started consuming more energy all of a sudden, you may want to contact Apple customer service and let them know about this issue. We are talking about drastic change here (after you updated to iPhone 3.0). The good news is iPhone SDK 3.1 beta is already out, and we may even see a patch released by Apple. Short battery life on iPhone can be a hassle (you can always add a battery extender), so let’s hope Apple addresses this issue for those who are having this issue.
