Apple Warranty Subscriptions, iPad 5 Release Date Info
0We have heard a lot of rumors about the iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 in the past few months. Apple is expected to release the next generation iPad devices by the time this year is over. Digitimes is now reporting that the iPad 5 will make its debut in the third quarter of 2013. The iPad mini 2 might be released in November though. The new iPad will borrow some design elements from the first generation iPad mini.
So why the delay? It is not a secret that the iPad mini has been cannibalizing iPad sales. The iPad 5 is going to be the main focus of Apple for now. Releasing the iPad mini a tad bit later will allow Apple to avoid losing profits and sell more larger iPads. Besides, this is not a bad move for the holiday season. With 2 new iPad models, Apple gets to generate a ton of momentum going into the holiday shopping season.
Speaking of Apple products, multiple sources are now reporting that Apple is slightly changing its iDevice repair policy and replacing broken iPhone 5 displays in-store. The on-site repair could set you back as low as $149, which is not bad considering the previous policy. Apple is expected to offer repairs for camera, sleep/wake button, and logic board issues soon. That means most issues will be covered as long as you are willing to take a trip to your local Apple store.
Apple Insider is reporting that iDevice owners could soon get warranty subscriptions. A new tier of AppleCare service will be introduced to be attached to customers rather than specific products. Pricing for that is not known at this time.
